Opera North: Femme Fatale: Women on the Edge (September 2003)

Lumen have produced a 15 minute video entitled Femme Fatale: Women on the Edge to accompany Opera North's 2003 Autumn season 2003; La traviata, Manon, Rusalka.

The video forms part of the Manon to Manon project; Manon by Jules Massenet (autumn 2003); Manon Lescaut by Puccini (autumn 2004).

The video explores the representation of the femme fatale in film and art and will play in the foyer of venues during Opera North's tour of the north of England.

“Opera North has developed a reputation for devising exciting and challenging musical programmes around its main seasons. This autumn Opera North will work on a year long project exploring the ‘Manon’ myth. The main stage productions of both Manon and Manon Lescaut will span the year and Opera North will develop two complimentary programmes which will bring together Massenet, Puccini, the literary source materials of the story and its contemporary resonances. Expect music, film, dance and Greta Garbo!”
— Dominic Gray, Projects Director, Opera North
