Presentations
Leeds College of Art and Design have kindly agreed to host the presentations for Evolution 2008. This platform provides a perfect opportunity to learn about the wider practice of the artists involved in the programme.
This year, we have presentations from four different contributors: Iris Garrelfs, Peter Cusack, The Loud Objects, and Michaela Grill.
For further details, please refer to the individual artist’s section.
Iris Garrelfs
Soundartist/composer Iris Garrelfs works primarily with field recordings
and vocal responses to environments, producing outstanding, ephemeral
compositions and improvised performances. In recent years, her practice
has become increasingly cross-media, with a focus on site-specific works.

Peter Cusack
Peter Cusack, based in London, works as a sound artist, musician and
environmental recordist with a special interest in environmental sound
and acoustic ecology. His projects span community arts, research into
the contribution of sound to our sense of place, and recordings that
document areas of special sonic interest (e.g. Lake Baikal, Siberia,
and Xinjang, China's most Western province).

The Loud Objects
The Loud Objects have set the standard for performative live circuit
bending. Wielding soldering irons and a ramshackle overhead projector,
the New York City-based trio (composer Tristan Perich, programmer Kunal
Gupta, and architect Katie Shima) wire up live musical circuits in
pursuit of lo-fi electronic noise.

Michaela Grill
Since 1999, Michaela Grill has produced a wide range of work, both as
a solo artist, and through an impressive array of collaborative projects. Living
and working in Vienna, Grill has made a number of stunning film/video works,
as well as producing sound installations, live visuals, and performances.
